  • How many people can you take on the ferry?

    Maximum 48

  • How long is the entire trip?


    The trip is 3 hours from departure time to return to our dock. There will be about 1 1/2 hours on Sheffield Island.

  • Do we have to book online, or can we buy tickets when we arrive?

    YES! book your reservation online to secure a seat.  There may be seats available the day of departure but reservations are encouraged.

  • What are the prices?

  • What happens when it rains?

    The captain on duty will determine if the weather conditions will not allow us to go out. Tickets are non-refundable unless there is a weather cancellation by the captain.

  • Are pets allowed?

    No pets allowed on the ferry or island. Except for certified service dogs.

  • Are we handicapped accessible?

    Sheffield Island is a rocky outcrop with rolling terrain and the docking facilities do not meet ADA regulations. Every effort has been made to minimize non-compliance. The gangway leading from the dock to the Island is wide enough to accommodate a standard wheelchair. The gangway incline (steepness) is determined by the height of the tide; at low tide it is steeper than at high tide. Due to liability concerns, the Sheffield Island staff is disallowed to assist with lifting or pushing a wheelchair or stroller. It will be important for the physically challenged to travel with a companion able to assist them.


  • Can we bring our own food?

    You may bring your own food and beverages.

    Food & beverages are not available for purchase.


  • Clambakes, can we bring our own drinks?

     For those atending the Clambake, it DOES NOT include  beverages, therefeore you can and should bring the beverage of your choice.


  • Can we book a private event?

    Yes, you can contact the office at 203-838-9444 or email us at info@seaport.org to book a private event.

  • Are there bathrooms on the ferry? On the island?

    Yes...there are bathroom facilities on the Ferry & the Island.

  • Where is the dock located?

    The Seaport Dock is located at 90 Water Street, Norwalk, CT 06854

  • Is parking available? Where?

    Cruises will depart from our dock located at 90 Water Street. The dock location is directly across from the Grit Ninja Norwalk Gym. There is no parking at our dock.

    The closet lot is the one at 5 Haviland Street.

  • Can we go swimming at Sheffield Island?

    Unfortunately, because we do not have a life guard on staff, swimming is not allowed at the beaches or off our dock at Sheffield Island.
