environmental, preservation and maritime educational organization offering a
wide array of special events and community projects.

Tours
The Norwalk Seaport Association ferryboat, G.W. Tyler, conveys visitors to
Sheffield Island for tours of the National Historic Landmark lighthouse and
enjoyment of a walking trail through the Stewart B. McKinney Wildlife Refuge.

Ferry rides to Sheffield Island as part of
the statewide Connecticut Open House. Enjoy round-trip cruise to Sheffield
Island, a tour of the historic 140-year-old lighthouse, beach walks and strolls
along the nature trail through the Stewart B. McKinney Wildlife Refuge.

Friday the 13th of June
Murder Mystery Night
An evening of mystery on Friday the 13th of June will be a 140th birthday celebration for Sheffield Island Lighthouse. The Norwalk Seaport Association invites mystery fans to help solve a murder and win prizes while enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dinner from 7:00-11:00 p.m. at The Norwalk Inn, 99 East Avenue. Tickets are $85.00 per person ($75.00 for Norwalk Seaport Association members). Reservations are required by Friday, June 6, and can be made by calling 203-838-9444. Reservation Form.

Christmas in July at Sheffield Island Lighthouse
Family fun includes visits with Santa Claus, holiday crafts for children to make
and early holiday shopping for ornaments and gifts with a nautical theme.

Haunted Sheffield Island Lighthouse
The historic lighthouse will be decorated as a child-friendly haunted attraction
to provide chills and thrills for youngsters. Games and crafts also are part of
this island adventure.

Festival
The “best shuckin’ festival around” features fun for all ages, including
international headliners and popular regional entertainers, hundreds of arts and
crafts booths, children’s activities, environmental displays,
palate-pleasing food, oystering exhibits, vintage vessels and harbor cruises!

Friday April 7
Norwalk Seaport Association Light Keeper’s Gala
A festive evening that includes cocktails, dining and dancing will be held from
6:30-11:00 p.m. at the Inn at Longshore in Westport. Proceeds from silent and
live auctions will support the Norwalk Seaport Association’s stewardship for
Sheffield Island Lighthouse and environmental education programs. Reservations
required.
Norwalk Seaport Association Initiates Bird
Watching Cruises
Beginning
June 28, bird watchers can join Larry Flynn, Master Wildlife Conservationist,
Division of Wildlife, Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, for
Saturday morning bird watching cruises organized by the Norwalk Seaport
Association. Each excursion will be from 7:30-10:30 a.m. aboard the Seaport
Association’s 12-foot G.W. Tyler ferry. Cruises will depart from the Seaport
Dock, adjacent to the Stroffolino Bridge at the corner of Washington and Water
Streets, South Norwalk. The fee is $20.00 for non-member adults ($18.00 for NSA
members) and $12.00 for children. Reservations are recommended –

According to Flynn, “Each cruise will be a different
experience since the bird watching opportunities will depend on the height of
the tide, weather and time of year. We may go up the Norwalk River, out to
Sheffield Island or meander around Norwalk Harbor. All levels of bird watchers
are welcome and binoculars will be available for beginners.”
